Often in the new year, once we start getting back into the groove of things, our wardrobes and our homes organisation can end up taking the back seat. When part of your daily routine is finding something to wear, you want your wardrobe to be easy to use, aesthetically pleasing and maintainable. You don't want to have to sort through a plethora of items just to find a good pair of jeans to wear.

Every week, I makeover clients wardrobes who have this exact issue. Too much stuff in the wardrobe, too many things to mentally sift through and then to find an outfit without running late, it can be very difficult to remain sane and look good. So this week, I want to share three simple things you can do to make your wardrobe neat when you don't have much time or money to invest into your wardrobe.

Make Your Wardrobe Neat

Get New Hangers

The biggest difference you can make to a wardrobe by barely making any effort is to get new hangers that are all the same. I personally love the space-saving flock hangers, I purchased mine in black but I've also seen them in a light beige colour. Having all the same hangers is visually pleasing and will save you space in your wardrobe. It also makes everything easier to see when it's all hanging at the same length.

Organise By Colour & Style

A simple way to make your wardrobe look neater and easier to navigate is to separate your clothing by style, which many people already do. To organise by style, put casual pants and formal pants next to each other, then skirts. Group your short sleeve tops and longer sleeves, then hang your lightweight jackets and heavier jackets together. After you've grouped your clothing into styles, simply arrange them from light to dark.

Line Up Your Shoes

When you've only got a few shelves or limited floor space to store your shoes, the best thing you can do to save space and make your wardrobe neat is to line up your shoes heel to toe. This will make room for at least an extra pair of shoes.

Bitch Tip: For an extra neat wardrobe, a few more things you can do is cull a few items from your wardrobe. You can also put sentimental items in a separate part of your home. Items like formal dresses, gifted items of clothing, clothes that don't currently fit and old uniforms can be packed away to create more space in your wardrobe, making things look much neater.
